What did we do?

Mr X was knocked off his motorcycle on his way to work. He suffered a severe psychological reaction, including nightmares, loss of sleep and depression.

Access Legal from Shoosmiths was appointed to advise him on his claim and to recover compensation for his injuries and loss of earnings. We obtained evidence from an independent doctor to confirm that the client was unable to work in the A&E department where he was constantly reminded of his own motorbike accident.

After obtaining statements from a number of the client's close friends we were able to negotiate a significant amount of compensation, without having to go to court.

Background

Mr X was travelling to work on his motorbike when a bus travelling in the opposite direction turned across his path. He suffered a dislocated shoulder. A few days later he began suffering nightmares, anxiety and depression. Although Mr X was able to return to work, he couldn't cope with working in the A&E department, where he was faced with other crash victims every day.

The case settled without going to trial and we were able to negotiate a substantial settlement reflecting the serious nature of the client's injury and the reduction in his future earnings.
