What did we do?
Access Legal from Shoosmiths took over the conduct of the client's CICA application in 2005, and worked with him and his family to ensure he received not only the maximum amount of compensation, but the rehabilitation and support he needed to deal with the lasting effects of a serious head injury.
Background
Our client was attacked by a group of men at a bus station, in 2001. Three of the men were convicted of offences relating to the assault, which left our client with a serious head injury.
He attempted to return to work some time after the injury, but twice lost his job due to his difficulty coping with the fatigue that resulted from his injuries. He also continues to suffer from headaches, memory problems, difficulty concentrating and intermittent depression.
The sum awarded by the CICA is to compensate him for his injuries, the care he has required, a Court of Protection Deputy to look after his financial affairs, and his ongoing loss of earnings.
Who dealt with the case?
The case was handled by Barbara Woodbridge, an associate in the personal injury department at Access Legal from Shoosmiths' Northampton office. Barbara is a solicitor specialising in complex neurological injuries, including catastrophic head and spinal injuries. She is a Member of the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel, and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
