What did we do?
Access Legal from Shoosmiths handled our client's application to the CICA, and ensured that all the necessary steps were taken to secure the maximum award.
He suffered severe brain damage as a result of the assault, and requires a huge amount of care from his family. During the course of the application, we were able to obtain an interim payment of £25,000 towards the purchase of a suitable vehicle and other necessary expenditure.
Background
The man was attacked by a group of youths while waiting for a taxi one evening in 2002. He was repeatedly punched and kicked in the head and left unconscious. On admission to hospital, he required several operations, and had to be fed through a tube in his stomach. His attackers were subsequently imprisoned. Our client continues to experience serious problems as a result of his injuries, and the size of the award reflects the fact that he will never be able to work again.
Who dealt with the case?

Barbara is a solicitor specialising in complex neurological injuries, including catastrophic head and spinal injuries.
