Purchasing an apartment in a retirement complex while selling your house
Unfortunately, the downturn in the property market meant she was unable to sell her property at a price that would enable her to buy the apartment she wanted.
What we did
By liaising with Mrs W and the owners of the complex, and ensuring her financial circumstances were carefully considered, we were able to negotiate the granting to Mrs W of a shared ownership lease on the apartment.
It was at a price and with a weekly rent that was affordable based on her means. To further assist Mrs W, and to reduce the stress of the move, we also agreed to pay her removal costs from her sale proceeds.
Case handler/fee earner
This case was handled by Stuart Angus, an associate who deals with a wide range of conveyancing matters, focusing on residential freehold and leasehold property transactions and retirement properties for the elderly.
Client testimonial
"It was nice that you checked I was doing the right thing, and for settling the removal costs before sending the remaining monies to my account. Thank you very much for your services."
