Access Legal from Shoosmiths raises funds for Aspire

The funds will be used to set up and furnish an Aspire-supported bungalow, to be named Shoosmiths House.

Aspire runs a network of supported houses adapted for wheelchair users, and are lived in whilst suitable alternative housing is found.

Staff at the firm's Basingstoke office will be working with their personal injury colleagues in Birmingham and Northampton to raise money for the charity, which provides support for people with spinal cord injuries.

Judith Dorkins, head of Access Legal from Shoosmiths, said: "This is a fantastic project and quite an unusual one.

"We chose to support Aspire because much of the work it does has a connection with the personal injury work we complete on behalf of our clients.

"We're delighted to be involved with a charity that fully focuses on enabling people to regain their independence after an injury, and we're hoping that our efforts will make a significant difference to such a positive cause."

Chris Field, head of fundraising at Aspire, said: "We are delighted to be working with Access Legal from Shoosmiths. The money raised will adapt and furnish a house and mean that we can support someone on their way from injury to independence."

Access Legal from Shoosmiths has already contributed more than £17,200 for the charity through a host of initiatives, and a fundraising committee has been set up to boost its efforts.
