Government to provide advance warning of tax changes
Published: 03:28PM BST 16 Nov 2010
Tax professionals are welcoming the Government's announcement that it will provide advance warning of new tax measures ahead of next year's Budget.
Treasury exchequer secretary David Gauke announced that on 9 December 2010 the Government will publish draft clauses planned for inclusion in the 2011 Finance Bill.
Previous governments have given some advance warning of new tax measures in an October pre-Budget report, but the actual draft clauses have never been provided before.
This change of policy should allow interested parties time to scrutinise new proposals properly before changes are introduced.
Next year's budget announcement will take place on 23 March 2011.
