Hats for Headway

Headway is the National Brain Injury Association, and provides tireless assistance to people living with brain injury and those who care for them.
All money raised will be donated to Headway's Basingstoke branch to help local people and their carers.
We're delighted to be fundraising for such a deserving charity and underlying this is a serious message to raise awareness of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
This year's focus is aimed at raising awareness of diagnosing and treating minor head injuries. Often when people attend hospital after relatively minor accidents they are unaware of head injury symptoms, or the extent of these symptoms, until much later on, by which time the effects can be profound.
It's vital that people know what to look out for and when to seek specialist treatment, such as seeking a referral to a neurologist or neuropsychologist.
Common symptoms include:
- headaches
- drowsiness
- vomiting or nausea
- memory problems
- irritability
- disorientation
- blurred vision
- deafness in one or both ears
- loss of balance
- weakness in arms or legs
- problems understanding or speaking
People suffering TBI often need help with rehabilitation and seeking appropriate treatments and practical help, as there may be a need to take time off work, or adjustments may be required with help in returning to work. These are issues our national Catastrophic Injury Team can help you with.
We are committed to helping people who have sustained brain injury and we are currently advising many clients who have suffered such injuries. As part of our continued commitment we are planning a series of ongoing articles.
We're also liaising with leading experts in the field of head injury and planning information sharing and training days across our offices. Future events will be publicised on our website.
