Schools tour will take safety message to 2,000-plus pupils

Around 2,500 Northamptonshire schoolchildren are to be shown the importance of wearing cycling helmets.
A team of five personal injury specialists at Access Legal from Shoosmiths will visit up to 30 of the county's primary schools to tie-in with Road Safety Week, which runs from 22-28 November.
Associates Philip Baldwin and Sarah Cunliffe, along with solicitor Shelley Nedimovic and legal executives Clare Kyprianides and Veronica Male, will use an interactive presentation to show seven to 11-year-old pupils why they should wear helmets when cycling.
They will get their message across with help from a specially-created character called 'Eggward', whose fragility demonstrates how cycling helmets offer protection.
All pupils who attend the presentations will receive a certificate, a cycling safety quiz book, and vouchers for 20% off helmets and 10% off cycling safety equipment at Pitsford Cycles, near Northampton.
They will also be able to enter a competition to design a poster that helps get across the cycling helmet safety message.
Philip Baldwin said: "This is a great opportunity to reiterate a really important safety message that will help keep children safe and hopefully prevent serious injuries in the future".
"The timing is important, too, not just because it'll be Road Safety Week, but because children riding when it's dark, maybe on the way to and from school, are obviously much more vulnerable."
The Access Legal from Shoosmiths cycling helmet tour starts on Monday 22 November, at Weston Favell School, in Northampton
Road Safety Week is an annual initiative run by road safety charity Brake and backed by the Department for Transport, and its theme this year is Kids Say SLOW DOWN!
Brake works to prevent road crashes through education and campaigns, and supports those bereaved or seriously injured in road crashes.
Access Legal from Shoosmiths provides legal services for consumers, ranging from personal injury and motoring law, to employment law and conveyancing.
