Employment rights
Your employer can provide you with more rights than you are entitled to by law, but cannot provide you with less.
Your employer is not allowed to breach your employment rights. Your employer is not legally permitted to:
- change your contract of employment without your agreement
- change your working hours or reduce your pay without your agreement
- dismiss you unfairly
- select you unfairly for redundancy
- discriminate against you
- victimise you for making a complaint
- bully and/or harass you
- dismiss you or change your terms and conditions as a result of a transfer of a business
We are committed to ensuring your employment rights are protected and ensuring you are compensated where your employer has breached those rights.

Important things to consider
Make sure you read your contract of employment and staff manual carefully, as it should set out your obligations and those of your employer. If you do not have access to anything in writing, speak to your line manager or human resources department and ask whether there is a policy in place for you to consider. Remember: if in doubt please consult us.
