Important things to consider
From the start of business legal disputes you must be clear about the terms of business. If there's a written agreement or contract, read it carefully. Request an explanation of anything that isn't clear. Consider whether any unfavorable aspects of the agreement can be amended or negotiated. Keep a copy of all agreements, invoices and details of payments safely for future reference should a dispute arise.
Try not to let personal emotions get involved. In the first instance, focus on the specific problem at hand and bring it to the attention of your contact at the other business with an open mind, looking to see what you can do together to work the problem out. Although business legal disputes are unwanted, once they're resolved they can often strengthen business relationships.
If it's your business that's having difficulty keeping up its side of an agreement, communicate this to the other business early and see whether anything can be agreed in advance to vary the terms or come to a mutually agreeable arrangement.
