Pharmaceutical mistakes

Pharmaceutical mistakes is an umbrella term used to describe an error made by a GP prescribing a drug to a patient, or by a pharmacist or chemist while dispensing the drug.

What is clinical negligence?

Claims for pharmaceutical mistakes happen when a patient has been given the wrong drug or the wrong dose of drug.

On some occasions such errors will have no effect on the patient, while on others the effects can be minor - the prescription of the wrong drug leads to a mild allergic reaction or other side effect - to the catastrophic, causing a fatal overdose.

Important things to consider

If you are successful in pursuing a claim for a pharmaceutical mistake and win a compensation sum, you may need to protect that sum and we can do this by setting up personal injury trusts.  If you don't make a trust you risk eroding your lump sum through loss of DSS benefit entitlements.

Accidents and injuries tend to make us all very aware of our own mortality and this is why it is important that you consider making a Will.
