Amy Greaves is a solicitor working in the clinical negligence department.

Amy joined Shoosmiths in February 2013 as a solicitor in the clinical negligence department. Amy qualified as a solicitor in September 2009.

Prior to joining Shoosmiths, Amy was a solicitor with Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP. Amy graduated with a 2:1 from University of Birmingham prior to training as a solicitor.

Amy works on a wide range of diverse cases across clinical negligence, including cases arising from psychiatric treatment, complications following anaesthetic, neurological injury, orthopaedic injuries and birth injury claims amongst others. Amy works closely with Victoria Blankstone and Alice Perry.

Amy has assisted families who have lost relatives due to negligence in preparing for Inquests. She also has experience of supporting families through appeals to the Special Educational Needs Tribunal regarding statements of special educational needs.

Work Highlights

Example One – Representing a family at an inquest where the treating surgeon had misrepresented the facts in medical records and extensively over treated the patient leading to his death.  The inquest last 5 days and Amy supported the family through this and has recently received an admission of liability in the clinical negligence claim.

Example Two – Getting an early admission of liability for a parent who had lost their child, securing an early interim payment and prompt settlement.

Example Three – Obtaining a positive breach of duty report on a case where an expert had initially been unsupportive of the claim


Outside of work, Amy also enjoys running, playing squash, socialising with friends and family, reading and buying shoes that she cannot walk in.
