Pam Westwood

Pamela joined Shoosmiths Access Legal in August 2013 as a solicitor in the clinical negligence department.

Pamela works on a wide range of diverse cases across clinical negligence, including cases arising from orthopaedic injuries, gynaecological procedures affecting women’s fertility and birth injuries affecting mothers and children.

Pamela has a particular interest in delays in diagnosis, orthopaedic injuries resulting in long term disability and amputation cases, for example due to delays in diagnosis of DVTs.  Pamela has also acted in cases involving stillbirths and resulting psychiatric injury.

Pamela has settled an amputation case on behalf of the wife of a gentleman that died from cancer. The amputation was necessary due to the hospital’s failure to diagnose a DVT caused by the chemotherapy the gentleman was receiving for his cancer.

She also settled a claim on behalf of a gentleman that suffered severe necrotising fasciitis causing extensive scarring and disability. The necrotising fasciitis would not have occurred but for the hospital’s failure to appropriately treat a pleural effusion which led to a pleural empyema and resulted in severe sepsis.

Prior to joining Shoosmiths, Pamela was a solicitor at Challinors having joined the firm in January 2012.  Pamela completed her LPC at The College of Law in Birmingham before joining Davies and Partners to complete her training contract.  She qualified as a solicitor in March 2005 and remained at Davies and Partners, working her way up to a senior solicitor.  Pamela left Davies and Partners in December 2011 to join Challinors.

Pamela is a member of AvMA and APIL which help injured people to seek compensation to get their lives back on track.

Outside of work, Pamela enjoys weight training, boxing and keeping fit.
